The psilocybin trial looked interesting, but the placebo group received niacin: "More participants receiving psilocybin had sustained response (but not remission) than those receiving niacin. There were no serious treatment-emergent AEs; however, psilocybin treatment was associated with a higher rate of overall AEs and a higher rate of severe AEs."

Looking forward to reading the paper on the inverse vaccine design too!

I am not familiar with Niacin. It was described as an 'active placebo', I guess to make the effect more tangible for the control group? What do you think the implications of its use are for the control group?

My thinking is that niacin could modulate the tryptophan-kynurenine pathway and provide some beneficial mental health effects via that mechanism.
